You Are Special!

Today was trust mass. I hope you managed to catch some of it?? The theme for today, presented to us by the American group, you are special. A very poignant message varied throughout truest mass today. As always it was a wonderful, beautiful affair and it really is an experience that cannot be put into words. It truly has to be experienced. The love that is felt in the underground basilica cannot not be expressed in this text. It is a magical affair.

Also today is a special day for one of our helpers, Jenna. Happy Birthday to lovely kind lady that has chosen to spend her birthday on the journey that is group 75 in Lourdes. To celebrate we had cake and candles at lunch time, which went down a treat.

This afternoon was the traditional journey on ‘le petit train’, commonly known as the wettest train ride ever.
Adorned with water pistols, 20 litres of ‘spare’ water, we headed for the train. What ensued has been caught on camera (one for the reunion), however there was not a dry tshirt amongst us. A fabulous afternoon well spent!

Tonight was party night!! Yey!! Dancing and singing, party food and icecream, what more could you want?!! It was a perfect evening for our price giving:
Best Disney dancer – Madalena
Best gymnast – Angel
Best actor – Kieran
Best little mischief maker – Joshua
Best flirt – Rowan
Best overcoming fears – Carlianne

It has been another wonderful day, and one full one to go!

Day 7 – A Magical Week

Well today started with a late get up….for some anyway. We headed to the Munster Bar for a bit of brekkie. Sausages, bacon etc….a nice change from bread, cheese and croissants.

Then the Friday shopping trip commenced, lad and lasses, jumpers and perfumes. I think everyone shopped until they dropped.

One of our final traditions is to write up our petitions for the group candle of messages and thanks. We decorated it, made it special, ready to take to the Grotto later on at night. Father Hugh from Group 56 came to bless the candle and shared some prayers.

As the afternoon progressed we went for our final sing song in the cafe and happened to stumble across a Scottish sing off, however they accommodated us nevertheless. Great fun was had by all.

As dusk arrived at Lourdes we took our final walk to the Grotto and to light our candle. A very emotional time for all of the group where we offer thanks to those who helped us achieve another successful week, but to those who also need our prayers.

We have had the most wonderful, magical week and we thank from the bottom of our hearts for helping us achieve this. The children and young people have had a fabulous time and that’s all we could wish for.

Group 75, love you all deep down in our hearts!

Beach Day!!!!

Earlier rising today and we were all excited for beach day. A long journey though it is St Jean de Luz, it really is worth it.

We did pretty much everything we’d do on the beach, jump in the sea, eat ice creams, play with the ball, bury each other, all whilst fully covered in factor duffle coat. It was awesome!! Lots of photos for this day which I’m sure you’ve already seen pop up.

The return journey, was full of singing and sleeping and once again a great rendition of ‘castle on the Hill’ by our super boy!

The evening was spent with out friends from the North East, group 36, with a large sing song of many different hits from the years. Our VIPs were not shy and loved every minute!!!

What a memorable day!! Definitely coming alive with 75!!!!

Day 4 – Torchlight

So today was all about making new friends and great memories!!!

We began with lots and lots of chocolate, croissants, bread and cheese! As I’ve said before food, food and more food. Nobody will starve whilst we’re away.

So playbase was our destination of the morning, face painting, crafts and decorating the trust mass banner. The kids had fabulous fun, but so did the oldies 🙂

Then it was back for lunch and a little rest before we headed out to meet our regional buddies. For some it was the first meeting our friends from Group 56, the Preston group. We celebrated mass together, with a great rendition of rise and shine.

We all jumped in the group the photo, which I’m assured was ‘fantastic’, but we wait to see…

Obviously we ventured to the ‘cafe’ for a little liquid refreshment and ice cream, and a little bask in the sun. Have I mentioned the weather is on top form. Truly beautiful. The sun has most definitely got his hat on 🙂

So last night was the Torchlight procession was as beautiful as always, and very hard to describe in words. A wonderful candle lit walk through the domain where all of HCPT joined together, most definitely to be experienced.

Fabulous week being had by all!! Coming alive with 75….

Day 3 – Caves and Sing Songs!

Well what a fabulous day we have had!! Obviously the day started with croissants and chocolate….well for some of us anyway. We then made our first excursion out to the caves – grottes de Betharram. Darcey reliably informs me we went up and down 416 steps, whilst going 80m underground. The culmination is a short boat road followed by a mile train ride….Dylan’s favourite part!! There were songs a plenty… let it go, the circle of life, a full Disney morning 🙂

Back for lunch, yes you guessed it….three courses!!!

The afternoon was an afternoon of play on the meadows. The idea was to play a few games and then have a little water fight, but where water and group 75 are concerned the water fight started first….and we got soaked!! The sun was out so we all dried out and then played a few parachute games. It was a lovely afternoon, lots of memories made.

The afternoon finished with a few songs in the cafe…led by ourselves. We are definitely vocal compared to many groups.

Hope you’re keeping up to date with us! We miss everyone but we’re having a wonderful time!!

We’re absolutely alive with 75!!!

Arrival

So here we are, day one!

As always with the first day it has been looooonnnnggggg!!! However, we’re here all in one piece, all luggage and helpers accounted for, and the mayhem has already begun.
The flight was uneventful, which is always a bonus and we arrived at the hotel just in time for lunch. Rooms assigned, bags unpacked and the first cafe visited. The vocal chords are being warmed nicely and should be in full swing tomorrow.
So everyone is already in bed, and our young people are already counting sheep. So it’s a very short blog today, but we’re all very excited for what the week will hold. Stick with us throughout the week to hear of our goings on.
So adios for now!

Candlelight

So Friday, always and emotional day in Lourdes. The day we realise the time we have spent together as a group is coming to an end, for this week anyway. We have had a fabulous week and the young people we have brought with us have made a long lasting impression. We’ve had so many laughs together and each and everyone have been a privilege to spend time with.

We began Friday with by decorating the group candle and writing our petitions. The guys then went off shopping for a little while whilst deputy and leader got the arduous task of packing the boxes and figuring what need for next year’s trip. Not even home yet and we’re planning for the future.

After lunch Father came to bless the candle ready for us to take it to the grotto later in the evening. We continued the afternoon with a regional photo for the North West followed by mass.

This is where Hannah got to exhibit her exiled vocal talents and Jamie his acting prowess. They were both fabulous and super talented.

We then made our last visit to cafe for a great sing song with some other groups. Absolutely great fun. Thoroughly enjoyed by us all.

As dusk fell we set out for the grotto with our group candle. As always it was very emotional. We spend a short time there lighting the candle, reflecting on our week and thoughts turn to people at home. There were a few tears, which very quickly turned to laughter when one of our young people said ‘do you know the best thing about life…..Lego’.

Well what more can you say?? It has been one fabulous year with a marvellous group of people. I hope for us all to meet up at the reunion which we’ll confirm when we’re back.

So all that’s left to do is finish packing and get ready to leave!!

Party Time!

One big party…..

Thursday could not have been a better day. We began the day donning our harlaquin pants and heading to trust mass and wow it was fantastic. All of HCPT under one roof singing and dancing. All the colours of the rainbow is a sight to behold. There was pegging and badge swapping happening throught, whilst also remembering why we are here. I hope many of you got to watch it. It truly was one of the best.

If you missed the live stream the video is on the Lourdes site so please watch back and look out for us, you can’t miss those pants! click here – HCPT Trust Mass 2016

Though the weather has turned now and the sun has maybe headed to Britain, the rain will never dampen our spirits and the shorts will still be on display. We embarked upon the ‘petit’ train journey around Lourdes to the sites. Though in true HCPT style water guns were involved. Therefore anybody wearing colours was fair game. Unfortunately that meant those on the train too!!! Needless to say we were super wet when we disembarked and in need of a warm shower.

Thursday evening sees our annual fancy dress party night!! We had lady gaga, pirates, hula girls, superman to name but a few. We had a wonderful time and even our regional chair, Richard, popped in by to see us.

Our last full day is starting and we’ve got so much to do, so ciao for now!

The beach!

Well Wednesday was beach day!! What a ball we had, running in and out of the water and playing on the sand. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t have wished for a better day. The two hour journey to St Jean de Luz is always well worth it. The rainbow pilgrimage invades the small town and brings life and party for an afternoon.

Night time was our annual lads and lasses night out dressed as where’s wally!! We get many comments and make many new friends on this night. I think Maureen and Magaret had a couple of men give them a peck on the cheek….even a member of the clergy!!
So today brings us to our BIG day as HCPT. The trust mass celebrating the diamond jubilee. It’ll be one to remember.

We’ll check in later. Keep following Facebook and Twitter throughout the day and we’ll keep you updated on our goings on!!

Torchlight Tuesday

Well Tuesday was a wonderful day. We started with a little bit of a late breakfast (for us) dressed in full neon. Nice and bright, just as 75 like it 🙂

We then headed to the play base for some face painting, ball games and crafts. There was some lovely artwork painted on our boys and girls.

The afternoon consisted of the group photo, steering away from the traditional this year and dressing still in our neon gear! The afternoon culminated in a rest for us all, the boys had other ideas and instigated a pillow fight. Mainly it was down time ready for the late night ahead at the HCPT led torchlight procession.

The procession started at 8.45 and before long there were all the HCPT groups bathed in a sea of candle light, beautiful to behold. To celebrate the diamond anniversary of HCPT there was a fireworks display, one of the best!!!

Thanks HCPT and the people of Lourdes for a wonderful joyous evening.

So right now we’re on our way to the beach. We’ll be in touch later….
